Weekends with kids? Total chaos, but so worth it. Here’s the lowdown on our recent escapades: playdates, one-on-one time, ice cream, walks, playgrounds, and picnics.

Saturday Shenanigans:
Saturday started with Mr. 7 off to a playdate—probably up to some mischief and swapping snacks with new buddies. Miss 15 was off with her cousins, probably huddled together in the same room but living their best antisocial lives on their phones.
That left me and Miss 10 to have some quality mother-daughter time. We hit Kmart, because nothing says bonding like wandering endless toy aisles and questioning why we didn’t just order everything online. We capped it off with a double scoop ice cream at Boff’s Diner. Nothing turns a day around like a mountain of ice cream!

Sunday Funday:
On Sunday, we dove into the LEGO Brick Show, which was like stepping into a brick-filled wonderland. The kids were in heaven—treasure hunting for mini LEGO figures, building their own creations, and gawking at displays that looked like they’d been built by a team of brick architects.
After LEGO overload, we took a leisurely stroll around Hamilton Lake. Well, “leisurely” in the sense that it involved answering “Are we there yet?” and listening to Miss 10’s pre-teen groans. Meanwhile, the other two were busy dominating the playground.
We wrapped up with a picnic where my gourmet skills shone—if you consider a strange mix of wilted lettuce, ham, and cheese a culinary triumph. Thankfully, fruit, cupcakes, and yogurt were there to save the day. Top it off with ice cream, and everyone was grinning.
Just when I thought we were done, Mr. 7’s hair—which had evolved into a mop—needed a trim. A quick trip to the barber and he was rocking a fresh look. I managed to convince him to skip the mullet this time.
As we settled in for a relaxed evening and prepared an easy, kid-approved dinner, the “I don’t want to go” drama hit hard. Mum guilt was in full force as the little ones put on quite the show before heading to their dad’s. They always manage to tug at those heartstrings.

Now, as I dive into the workweek, juggling deadlines and emails, I’m recharging my mum batteries. If you’re waiting for a reply, it’s coming soon. For now, I’m enjoying the quiet and gearing up for the next round of family fun.

Here’s to making memories, battling mum guilt, and rolling with the chaos!
