I keep circling back to this so thought maybe writing it all down again would get it out of my system for good ❤️
Have you ever experienced that sudden jolt of discomfort when you see someone who instantly triggers your fight-or-flight response? The kind of person whose presence brings back memories of situations that deeply impacted your mental health. In small towns like Cambridge, where everyone seems to know each other, the chances of bumping into people you’d rather forget can feel frustratingly high.
Working in hospitality has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, but let’s not sugarcoat it—this industry can also be a breeding ground for toxic environments. Yes, you share laughs with coworkers, bond over absurd customer requests, and develop a thick skin. But sometimes, these workplaces don’t just build character—they break it down, crush it, and leave you feeling hollow.
Eventually, for me, balancing full-time hospitality work, raising neuro-spicy kids, and managing my own mental health led me to a crucial realisation: I couldn’t keep doing it. My mental well-being—and my sanity—had to come first. That’s how Sweet Spot Creations was born: out of necessity, passion, and the need for a happier, healthier life. The catalyst wasn’t relationship breakdowns, or the tough stuff like that… it was a horrible work environment.
Here’s what I’ve learned: walking away from toxic environments isn’t giving up. It’s leveling up. It’s knowing your worth when others try to make you feel less.
So, to those who once drained my spirit—I no longer carry your weight. I’ve moved on, and in doing so, I’ve found peace.
